Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 July 2026
Settlers After Dark is a board-game-night companion app made by ScoutIQ LLC. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why it needs it, and how to get rid of it.
The short version. We collect your phone number (to sign you in), your name, an optional profile photo, and the games you log. We don't run ads, we don't track you across other apps, we don't sell your data to anyone, and there is no analytics or advertising SDK in the app.
What we collect
Account information
- Your phone number. Signing in uses a one-time SMS code, so we need your number to send it and to identify your account. It is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google).
- Your display name, and any per-group nickname you choose.
- A profile photo โ optional. If you add one, the app asks permission to use your camera or photo library, and the image is stored in Firebase Storage. You can remove it at any time.
Your game data
- The game nights you belong to, who else is in them, and your role (owner, admin, member).
- Games you log: the game played, the date, who played, scores, placements, teams and roles, plus any notes you add.
- Values the app derives from the above โ rankings, skill ratings, achievements, and statistics.
Information about guests
A game-night organizer can add guest players โ people who don't use the app โ so their results can be recorded. This stores the guest's name, and optionally a phone number, inside that game night.
If you add a guest, that's your responsibility. Only add someone else's details if they're okay with it. If you're a guest and you want your information removed, ask the organizer of your game night, or contact us and we'll help.
If you contact us or ask to join the beta
This website has a contact form and a beta-tester request form. If you use one, we store:
- the email address you give us, plus your name, message, and phone platform if you include them;
- your IP address and browser user-agent โ used only to block spam and abuse of the form.
We use this to reply to you and, if you asked, to send you a beta invite via Apple TestFlight or Google Play. We won't add you to a marketing list, and we won't email you about anything else. Ask us and we'll delete it.
These forms are the only part of this website that collects anything. Just reading the site collects nothing โ there are no cookies, and no analytics.
What we don't collect
- No advertising, and no ad networks.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs โ we don't follow you around other apps or websites.
- No location data.
- No contacts. The app never reads your address book.
- We never sell or rent your data. There is no one to sell it to; this isn't that kind of app.
Who can see your data
Your game results are visible to the members of the game nights you belong to โ that's the entire point of the app. They can see your name, photo, and the games you've played with them.
Nothing is public. People outside your game nights cannot see your data, and security rules on our database enforce that.
Where your data lives
The app runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions). Your data is stored on Google's servers in the United States and is encrypted in transit. Google processes it on our behalf as a service provider โ see Firebase's privacy documentation.
To verify sign-in, Firebase may use Apple Push Notification service (on iOS) or Google Play Services (on Android). This is what confirms the request came from a real copy of the app.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and personal data from inside the app at any time: Profile โ Delete account. It's permanent and it isn't reversible.
When you delete your account:
- Your profile, photo, and phone number are removed.
- Game nights where you were the only member are deleted entirely, including their game history.
- In game nights with other people, the shared game records stay โ otherwise we'd be destroying your friends' history too โ but your identity is stripped from them and your name is replaced with "Deleted player."
- Your rankings and skill data are deleted.
Full instructions, including how to request deletion by email, are on the Delete account page.
How long we keep things
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and it's removed, as described above. We don't keep backups of deleted accounts for marketing or resale, because we don't do either.
Children
Settlers After Dark isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to how it's processed. The app already lets you edit your profile and delete your account outright. For anything else, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the app.
